Villa Antinori

In 1928, Niccolò Antinori embarked on a journey to create a wine that could encapsulate the unique identity of Chianti Classico and Tuscany. The result was "Villa Antinori", a wine named after the family's villa, a symbol of their heritage and dedication to winemaking. Niccolò Antinori's vision was to promote the Antinori name, then relatively unknown, through a wine that embodied their commitment to excellence and tradition. The name "Villa Antinori" was chosen to represent the family's deep-rooted connection to the land and their passion for viticulture. Each bottle of Villa Antinori is a testament to the Antinori family's history and their unwavering dedication to the art of winemaking. It offers a personal interpretation of Chianti Classico and Tuscany's unique identity, capturing the essence of the region in a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.

Antinori, Tignanello, 2019

Antinori's Tignanello is a renowned Super Tuscan wine, and the 2019 vintage holds true to its esteemed reputation. The year 2019 was marked by optimal weather conditions in Tuscany, beginning with a mild winter and followed by a cool, rainy spring that replenished soil moisture. A summer of high temperatures and abundant sunshine created perfect conditions for grape ripening, resulting in wines of exceptional quality, balance, and structure.

The Tignanello 2019 blend consists of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. While the exact proportions may vary annually, the blend generally consists of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc. This blend imbues the wine with a unique character, merging the vibrant acidity and red fruit flavors of Sangiovese with the darker fruit notes and structure provided by the Cabernet varieties.

Upon pouring, Tignanello 2019 reveals a deep ruby red hue. The nose is greeted with a complex bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, spices, and a subtle hint of earthiness. The palate experiences a full-bodied wine with well-integrated tannins and a lingering finish. The wine's inherent acidity, derived from the Sangiovese grape, harmonizes with its rich flavors, making it an excellent companion to a variety of dishes, including grilled meats, robust pastas, and mature cheeses.
