Casanova di Neri
Casanova di Neri, a renowned Italian winery, was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri. Giovanni Neri, originally a grain and seed merchant, left the bustling city of Montevarchi in the Arno valley south of Florence to pursue his passion for wine. Despite being in close proximity to the famous Chianti Classico region, it was the austere and unpredictable nature of the Sangiovese grape growing in the Montalcino region that captivated him. His ambition was to create an exceptional Italian red wine that would be recognised worldwide.
Having a lifelong passion for wine, Giovanni Neri embarked on this great adventure with a single-minded vision, a vision that has now placed Casanova di Neri on the global wine map. The wines produced here embody the spirit of the Italian tradition, the rugged charm of the Montalcino region, and the relentless passion of its founder. The unpredictability of the Sangiovese grapes adds an element of surprise and intrigue to each bottle of wine, making it a truly unique experience for the wine connoisseur.
Casanova di Neri, IrRosso, 2021
Casanova di Neri's IrRosso is a captivating blend that marries the finest of Tuscany, meticulously crafted with the high standards and precision for which this renowned winery is celebrated.
Il Rosso is born from the harmonious marriage of Sangiovese with a modest addition of other grape varieties, delivering a young, profound red. It carries the essence of its native territory with an unmistakable Casanova di Neri signature.
The 2021 winter exhibited gentle temperatures and regular rainfall. Germination commenced between the last week of March and the first week of April. An unexpected return of cold during spring slowed the growth of vegetation. However, the hot and dry conditions in May and June allowed the plants to recover. Ripening proceeded steadily and the harvest began in the second week of September.
Even with its depth and complexity, the IrRosso retains an accessible nature. It is a wine that can be savored while young, but also possesses the structure needed for modest aging. Its versatility and balance make it a perfect companion to a wide range of dishes.
Whether you are taking your first steps into the world of Italian wines or are a seasoned connoisseur, the Casanova di Neri IrRosso provides a chance to delve into the rich diversity and masterful craftsmanship of the Tuscan wine landscape.
