Casanova di Neri
Casanova di Neri, a renowned Italian winery, was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri. Giovanni Neri, originally a grain and seed merchant, left the bustling city of Montevarchi in the Arno valley south of Florence to pursue his passion for wine. Despite being in close proximity to the famous Chianti Classico region, it was the austere and unpredictable nature of the Sangiovese grape growing in the Montalcino region that captivated him. His ambition was to create an exceptional Italian red wine that would be recognised worldwide.
Having a lifelong passion for wine, Giovanni Neri embarked on this great adventure with a single-minded vision, a vision that has now placed Casanova di Neri on the global wine map. The wines produced here embody the spirit of the Italian tradition, the rugged charm of the Montalcino region, and the relentless passion of its founder. The unpredictability of the Sangiovese grapes adds an element of surprise and intrigue to each bottle of wine, making it a truly unique experience for the wine connoisseur.
Casanova di Neri, Brunello di Montalcino, 2018
From the heart of Tuscany, Casanova di Neri presents the Brunello di Montalcino 2018, a true embodiment of the Sangiovese grape. This red wine hails from the esteemed producer known for consistency in quality across vintages.
The winter of 2018 was marked by low temperatures, causing a late bud break. Spring brought plenty of rain, with vines blooming in the last week of May. Summer began cool, with no extreme heat in June and July. A large range in diurnal temperatures prior to harvest allowed the grapes to mature slowly and steadily.
The Brunello di Montalcino 2018 strikes a balance between power and elegance. It presents a bright ruby red color, with a nose revealing the freshness of the vintage followed by hints of nutmeg and crisp red berries. On the palate, it is generous yet measured, showcasing a great balance between tannic texture and acidity.
The full-bodied character of the Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino 2018 invites exploration of its layers and complexity. The finish is persistently pleasing, with a lasting warmth and a recurrence of a harmonious blend of fruit and earthy elements.
Like its predecessors, this 2018 Brunello shows potential for aging. Given time in the cellar, it is expected to evolve, revealing further layers of depth and character. This wine offers a compelling tasting journey and a promising future for all who appreciate the art of Tuscan winemaking.
This wine is packaged in a 1,5 L bottle. Generally, larger bottles allow wine to age better.
