Poliziano, Toscana IGT, 2018

Poliziano is a well-known Tuscan winery that was established in 1961 by Dino Carletti. The winery is named after Angelo Ambrogini, a native of Montepulciano, who was known by his nickname, Poliziano.

Famed for its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a highly esteemed wine in Italy, Poliziano produces wines with robust and elegant characteristics. The flavors of these wines are rich with red and black fruits, spices, and earthy tones, all derived from the Sangiovese grape, known locally as Prugnolo Gentile.

Poliziano's vineyards span approximately 120 hectares, mostly in the Montepulciano region. The diverse soil composition in these vineyards contributes to the unique characteristics and diversity of the wines produced. Each vineyard's individuality is respected during the winemaking process.

The winery practices a balance between tradition and innovation. Modern technology is used to enhance wine quality, while traditional winemaking techniques are also honored. The winery's philosophy is to produce wines that reflect the character of the land and the vintage.

This wine, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, has an alcohol level of 14.5%. The aging process involves 16 months in new French oak barrels, contributing to the rich, complex flavors. The aging potential of this wine is excellent, with the ability to mature and develop for over 20 years.
