Casanova di Neri

Casanova di Neri, a renowned Italian winery, was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri. Giovanni Neri, originally a grain and seed merchant, left the bustling city of Montevarchi in the Arno valley south of Florence to pursue his passion for wine. Despite being in close proximity to the famous Chianti Classico region, it was the austere and unpredictable nature of the Sangiovese grape growing in the Montalcino region that captivated him. His ambition was to create an exceptional Italian red wine that would be recognised worldwide.

Having a lifelong passion for wine, Giovanni Neri embarked on this great adventure with a single-minded vision, a vision that has now placed Casanova di Neri on the global wine map. The wines produced here embody the spirit of the Italian tradition, the rugged charm of the Montalcino region, and the relentless passion of its founder. The unpredictability of the Sangiovese grapes adds an element of surprise and intrigue to each bottle of wine, making it a truly unique experience for the wine connoisseur.

Casanova di Neri, Brunello di Montalcino, 2017

With an impressive rating from Robert Parker, James Suckling, Wine Spectator, and Decanter, the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri stands as a testament to the mastery of the winemakers and the exceptional quality of the Sangiovese grape in Tuscany, Italy. The vineyard has been producing this White Label since 1978, a testament to the enduring appeal and consistent quality of the wine.

The wine captures the eye with a striking red hue, while the nose is greeted with an ethereal and citrusy aroma that gradually unfolds to reveal notes of cherry, raspberry, and black cherry. The palate is treated to a symphony of flavors, where the generosity of the 2017 vintage is evident. The tannins are soft and silky, balanced by a subdued acidity, reflecting the warmth of this sunny vintage. The finish is long, fresh, and harmonious, leaving a lasting impression.

The Casanova di Neri White Label 2017 is characterized by its robust character, yet it retains an air of elegance and finesse. The full-bodied palate and layered complexity offer a satisfying and thought-provoking tasting experience.

While already an enjoyable wine, the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino exhibits great potential for aging. It promises to evolve and reveal more of its character over the coming years, making it a fine addition to any wine enthusiast's collection, especially for those with a fondness for the depth and complexity of Brunello wines.
