Arzuaga Winery

Arzuaga Winery, a family-owned gem, is located in Valladolid, at the heart of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. The winery's vineyards are found in La Planta, an estate belonging to the Arzuaga family in Quintanilla de Onésimo. This location is a haven for vine-growing, providing the perfect balance of sun and moisture that allows the grapes to ripen to perfection. Arzuaga wines are crafted based on three key premises: the soil, the climate, and the orientation of the vineyards. The soil, rich and fertile, provides a strong foundation for the vines. The climate, with its generous sun and adequate moisture, ensures the grapes mature perfectly. The orientation of the vineyards is carefully considered, maximizing the exposure to the sun and optimizing the growth of the vines. The Arzuaga family's commitment to these premises results in wines that are a true reflection of their terroir. Each bottle of Arzuaga wine brings forth the flavours and aromas unique to the Ribera del Duero region, making it a delightful experience for wine connoisseurs.

Arzuaga, La Planta, 2020

La Planta hails from the esteemed Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro, nestled in the acclaimed Ribera del Duero region in Spain. This region benefits from limestone and chalky soils, providing an optimal environment for viticulture.

La Planta is derived from the Tempranillo grape, locally termed Tinto Fino. The name La Planta is homage to the vineyard where the grapes are cultivated. The vineyard's sandy and clay soil nurtures vines that are over 20 years old.

The aroma and flavor profile of La Planta is marked by a rich cherry hue and a bouquet teeming with vivid red fruit scents such as cherries and strawberries. These are often complemented by spice notes and a gentle hint of wood. The wine matures in oak barrels for approximately six months, bestowing subtle oaky nuances that do not overshadow the fruit.

Upon tasting, La Planta presents a medium-bodied, well-balanced palate. The ripe fruit flavors persist, complemented by gentle tannins. With an overall harmonious profile, it is versatile enough to accompany a wide variety of dishes. It pairs exceptionally well with grilled or roasted meats, an assortment of Spanish tapas, or medium-aged cheeses.
