Casanova di Neri
Casanova di Neri, a renowned Italian winery, was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri. Giovanni Neri, originally a grain and seed merchant, left the bustling city of Montevarchi in the Arno valley south of Florence to pursue his passion for wine. Despite being in close proximity to the famous Chianti Classico region, it was the austere and unpredictable nature of the Sangiovese grape growing in the Montalcino region that captivated him. His ambition was to create an exceptional Italian red wine that would be recognised worldwide.
Having a lifelong passion for wine, Giovanni Neri embarked on this great adventure with a single-minded vision, a vision that has now placed Casanova di Neri on the global wine map. The wines produced here embody the spirit of the Italian tradition, the rugged charm of the Montalcino region, and the relentless passion of its founder. The unpredictability of the Sangiovese grapes adds an element of surprise and intrigue to each bottle of wine, making it a truly unique experience for the wine connoisseur.
Casanova di Neri, Brunello di Montalcino, 2018
Immerse yourself in the rich experience of the Sangiovese grape with Casanova di Neri's Brunello di Montalcino (White Label) 2018. This wine hails from the heart of Tuscany, crafted by one of the region's respected producers. The 2018 Brunello stands as a testament to Casanova di Neri's commitment to maintaining quality across vintages.
The 2018 vintage came into existence under unique climatic conditions. A harsh winter delayed bud break by a week, while a rainy spring followed. The vines blossomed during the last week of May. The onset of a cool summer, devoid of extreme heat during June and July, allowed for a slow and steady maturation of the grapes. The temperature variations prior to harvest further contributed to the character of this vintage.
Translucent and bright ruby red in color, this Brunello di Montalcino exhibits the power and elegance that this type of wine is known for. The freshness of the 2018 vintage is evident in the nose, intertwined with hints of nutmeg and crisp red berries. On tasting, the wine reveals a generous, measured character, striking a balance between its tannic structure and acidity.
The robustness of the Casanova di Neri White Label 2018 is tempered with grace and finesse. Its full-bodied character invites an exploration of its complex layers without being overwhelming. The finish leaves a lingering warmth and a harmonious blend of fruity and earthy elements.
Just like its predecessors, the 2018 Brunello shows potential for aging. With time, this wine is expected to reveal further depth and character. For those who appreciate Tuscan wines, the Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino 2018 promises an intriguing tasting journey and a promising future.
