Boglietti Winery

Established in 1991 by brothers Enzo and Gianni Boglietti, the Boglietti Winery is a testament to a rich family tradition of winemaking. The brothers, having grown up farming their father's original vineyard in La Morra, expanded the family's holdings to over 50 acres of single vineyard sites, most of which lie on Piedmont's famed golden slope, a region known for its superior wines. Some of these vineyards boast 100-year-old-plus plant material, adding a touch of history and depth to the flavors of the wines produced. The Boglietti lineup, ranging from stylish normale to stunning cru Dolcetto, Barbera, and Barolo, has few rivals when it comes to energy and depth of character. These wines are the result of grapes that are sustainably farmed and picked by hand, ensuring only the highest quality produce is used. The fermentation process is carried out with native yeasts, maintaining the natural integrity and flavor profile of the grapes. The Boglietti Winery is a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, producing wines that are not only delightful to the palate but also respectful of the environment. The result is a collection of wines that truly reflect the passion and dedication of the Boglietti brothers and their commitment to the art of winemaking.

Enzo Boglietti, Barolo Brunate, 2016

The Barolo Brunate 2016 from Enzo Boglietti is a testament to the rich terroir of the Brunate vineyard, an esteemed cru within the Barolo appellation. The Nebbiolo grape's expressive qualities shine through in this wine, which was cultivated with precision and care.

Following a 20-day fermentation period at a controlled temperature, this wine underwent daily plunging and pumping. A 60-day post-fermentation maceration on the skins further enhanced the wine's complexity and depth. Aging for 30 months in used French oak barrels and foudres lent additional nuances to the finished product.

The wine showcases a light, bright ruby hue with a touch of orange. The bouquet is a delightful blend of red and dark fruits, fresh rose, and a hint of spice, creating a refined representation of Brunate. A pleasing balance of austerity, vibrant fruit notes, and delicate tannins characterizes the palate.

The silty clay soil, low in organic matter, contributes to the wine's commanding yet restrained structure. Large patches of clay in the vineyard add to the complexity of the wine's flavors and aromas.

Barolo Brunate 2016 from Enzo Boglietti is a remarkable wine that mirrors the unique characteristics of the Brunate vineyard and the Boglietti family's dedication to producing top-tier, expressive wines. This wine is a perfect match for hearty, savory dishes such as beef stew or roasted lamb, making it an excellent selection for a special meal or celebratory event.
