Barone Ricasoli is one of the oldest and most respected wine estates in the world, situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico region in Tuscany, Italy. The Ricasoli family has been linked with wine since the 12th century, making it one of the oldest wineries in the world and the oldest in Italy.
The winery is based at Castello di Brolio, a historic castle which has been in the Ricasoli family since 1141. Barone Bettino Ricasoli, the "Iron Baron," played a crucial role in establishing the estate's reputation. In the 19th century, after years of experimentation, he developed the original formula for Chianti wine, which became the basis for the modern Chianti Classico we know today.
